<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Over the past two decades the views at the role of adipose tissue in the metabolic and energy metabolism have radically changed. There have appeared more and more evidence on the production of biologically active substances by adipose tissue, the so-called adipocytokines that are involved in the regulation of metabolic processes at the local or systemic level, of the tissue sensitivity to insulin, as well as pro-inlammatory or anti-inlammatory effect. By analysing the relationship and interaction of abdominal obesity, aseptic inlammation of adipose tissue and insulin resistance, it should be emphasized that these processes operate on the principle of mutual reinforcement, forming a vicious circle. Further understanding of adipokines and cytokines participation in the development of obesity and metabolic syndrome may contribute to a deeper insight into their biological role.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>ожирение</kwd><kwd>метаболический синдром</kwd><kwd>асептическое воспаление</kwd><kwd>адипонектин</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>obesity</kwd><kwd>metabolic syndrome</kwd><kwd>aseptic inflammation</kwd><kwd>adiponectin</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">World Health Organization.
