В результате ряда экспериментов ученые обнаружили, что введение животным экстракта почек, полученного от других животных, вызывает закономерный и значительный прирост артериального давления. В дополнительных опытах удалось локализовать выработку ренина в почках (в корковом веществе), охарактеризовать его физико-химические свойства, указывавшие на принадлежность к пептидам, проанализировать вазоконстрикторный механизм и фармакокинетические свойства препарата — скорость наступления и продолжительность эффекта.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The history of the discovery of renin in 1896 by Robert Tigerstedt and Per Bergman, the life and creative path of these scientists are described. In animal experiments, they demonstrated that injection of the renal extract to the animals results in a significant increase in blood pressure.
